AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 14.08.010(C) OF THE WEST MEMPHIS
MUNICIPAL CODE TO ALLOW TWENTY DAYS FOR PAYMENT OF WATER

WHEREAS, the West Memphis Utility Commission has recommended changing the time fbr payment
of water and sewer bills from fifteen days to twenty days;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 14.08.010(C) of the West Memphis Municipal Code is hereby amended to read
as follows:
Billing and Payments. Meters will be read and bills rendered monthly. The net bill shall be paid
not more than twenty days from date of bill; otherwise, the ten percent discount is forfeited and
the gross bill is payable. If any bill is not paid within thirty days, the city may discontinue
service to such customer. In the event of such discontinuance of service, the customer shall be
required to pay a reconnection charge in addition to all accrued charges for water service
before any reconnection is made and service resumed.
SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the
extent of such conflict.
