WHEREAS, Mr. Gary Walker was elected to the West
Memphis City Council in 1978, and served for a period
of four (4) years; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker, who is an executive of a large
insurance company brought to the City Council many years
~rir of managerial, financial and administrative experience;
and,
WHEREAS, during the time that Mr. Walker served on
the West Memphis City Council he was Chairman of the
Budget Committee, served on the Insurance Committee, and
the Fire and Police Commissions, and many other Committees
where his talents, experience and background were of
great assistance in solving many problems confronting
the City of West Memphis from day to day; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker was deeply interested in
assisting the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, in securing
reasonable electrical rates and it was through his efforts
that the west Memphis Utility Commission was reorganized
and restructured to the extent whereby there is now a
workable relationship between the City Council and the
West Memphis Utility Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Walker is an outstanding Christian
Layman and Leader in the West Memphis Christian School
where he has found time to work while he was serving as
a Member of the West Memphis City Council;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
That the City Council deeply appreciates the services
rendered to the City of West Memphis by Mr. Gary Walker,
as his talents and ability to accomplish things in a rapid
and efficient way will be greatly missed by the West Memphis
City Council.
