WHEREAS, Mrs. Joyce Ferguson having given dedicated services to the
City of West Memphis in the capacity as Mayor of the city for eight (8)
years, and
~ WHEREAS, Mrs. Ferguson has been very instrumental in the purchasing
of the land for the development of the West P~emphis Crittenden County
Port Facility, Mid-South Vo-Tech School, Residential Housing Board Bond
Issue, Hotel Motel tax, and also educational developments by allowing
Arkansas State University and East Arkansas Community College to hold
off-campus classes in West Memphis, and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ferguson was also instrumental in the construction
of the Theodore Robertson Building (Wew City Shop),the New Activities
Center Building, New street construction,the completion of Tilden Rodgers
Park, the Civic Auditorium, West Memphis City Hall and many other projects
throughout the city.
WHEREAS, the West Memphis City Council has been most grateful for
the services rendered by Mayor Joyce Ferguson.
IT IS THEREFORE, RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS wishes to commend Mrs. Joyce Ferguson for the many years
of devoted services to the City of lJest Memphis and wish her much success
in the years to come.
