RESOLUTION N0. ~L-
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, has been
saddened by the death of one of its oldest and finest City
Employees, Mr. P. G. Para; and,
°~'" WHEREAS, during the time Mr. Para served as a member
of the West Memphis Utility Commission and as General Manager
of the West Memphis Utility Department, many innovative ideas
and procedures were instituted to cause the West Memphis
Utility Department to become one of the finest assets owned
by the City of West Memphis; and,
WHEREAS, the acquisition of a one per cent (1%) interest
in the White Bluff and Independence Generating Power Plants
was a direct result of the efforts of Mr. Para; and,
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis, through the
acquisition of these plants, has been assured of a sufficient
quantity of electricity at reasonable rates to supply the
Citizens of our Town in the years to come; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Para was a leader in all phases of the
City's growth, and was a dominant factor in acquiring new
' industries for the town; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Para was an outstanding Christian
and loyal member of the United Methodist Church;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, deeply regrets the sudden
death of Mr. P. G. Para and is grateful for the many fine things
that Mr. Para accomplished for the City of West Memphis and
the West Memphis Utility Department; and,for his assistance
in securing new industrial plants for the City; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be
sent to Mrs. Laura Para, His Wife, 424 E. Roselawn, West Memphis,
