RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, AUTHORIZING FILING OF
AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF ARKANSAS FOR
AN ARKANSAS COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
GRANT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis, Arkansas has previously
submitted an Application for a multi-year funding commitment for
approval from the Department of Housing 8 Urban Development for
such multi-year funding; and
WHEREAS it is timely for the City to make adjustments to its
existing program and submit its Application for Funding of the
Third incremental year of the Program as now administered by the
Arkansas Industrial Development Commission; and
WHEREAS the City of West Memphis is applying to the State of
Arkansas for an Arkansas Community and Economic Development Grant;
and
WHEREAS it is necessary that certain conditions be met as
part of the Application requirement; and
WHEREAS the City of West Memphis has conducted at least one
public hearing as part of the Application and amendment process
to receive and consider citizen comments on community needs and
proposed activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the Application for ACEDP assistance requesting a
program grant in the amount of $540,500, as described on the
Application forms dated August 4, 1983, are hereby approved.
2. That the local amendment pertaining to the First and
Second Year Programs that are associated with the continued
assistance under the ACEDP Program as described in a document
dated August 4, 1983, are hereby approved.
3. That Leo Chitman, the Mayor, is authorized to submit
this Application to the State of Arkansas on behalf of the City
of West Memphis to undertake this project.
4. That this resolution shall take effect immediately.
