A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF i~~~
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS , ARKANSAS N0. --~--~f
WHEREAS, Act 788 of 1977 fixed the salary of the West Memphis
Municipal Judge at $18,000 per year; and
~ WHEREAS, Act 583 of 1979 fixed the salary of the West Memphis
Municipal Judge at $18,000 per year; and
WHEP.EAS, Act 694 of 1981 fixed the salary of the West Memphis
Municipal Judge at $20,000 per year; and
WHEREAS, Act 656 of 1983 fixed the salary range of the West
Memphis Municipal J udge at $18, 000 - $20,000 per year; and
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Municipal Court has County wide
jurisdiction to hear small claims, civil cases, traffic and misdemeanor
offenses and felony preliminary hearings; and
W1~EREAS, other Courts with comparable case loads have sub-
stantially higher salary ranges; and
WHEREAS, it is hereby found that the range of $24,000 - $32,000
is comparable to other Municipal Court salaries and reasonable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. The City Council of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas
hereby respectfully requests the Crittenden County Legislative
Del~:gation to increase the salary range for West Memphis Municipal
Court Judge to $24,000 - $32,000 per year.
2. Upon said action being taken and becoming effective, the
salary of the West Memphis Municipal Judge is hereby fixed at $24,000
for 1985, retroactive to January 1, 1985.
