WHEREAS, the West Memphis Fire Department did on
April 11, 1980, answer the call to duty when one of the
worst disasters in the history of West Memphis, Arkansas,
struck our City; and,
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Fire Department did assist
the West Memphis Utility Department, Police Department,
and other Departments of our City in protecting property
and securing any fires that could possibly happen from the
disaster; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Memphis
is deeply grateful for the services to be performed by
Chief Thomas Burkhart and all Members of the Fire Department
~~ under his supervision;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the City Council of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, expresses their deep appreciation to Chief Thomas
Burkhart and all Members of the West Memphis Fire Department
in their devotion to duty during the worst disaster that has
happened in West Memphis, Arkansas, in its history.
2. That a copy of thj.s Resolution be sent to
Chief Thomas Burkhart for distribution to all members of the
Fire Department of the City of We/s~t Memphis, Arkans/~as . ,
