WHEREAS, recently, there was an attempt of armed
robbery at Majik Market, 906 Ingram, West Memphis, Arkansas,
in which persons tried to rob the Cashier of the store;
and,
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Police Department had
stationed men in the establishment contemplating that a
ro?~bery might take place; and,
WHEREAS, in anticipation of the impending robbery,
the West Memphis Police Department were ready, willing and
able to protect the property of our citizens and did
respond by firing upon the robbers; and, while in so doing,
killed one (1) of the attempted robbers; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Memphis
"~, is grateful for the foresight of the West Memphis Police
Department and their devotion beyond the call of duty in the
~""" apprehension of the attempted robbery at Majik Market;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the City Council wishes to commend Chief B. R.
(Bobby) Keen of the West Memphis Police Department and other
Officers who participated in apprehending the criminals who
attempted the robbery at Majik Market and did respond to duty
in spite of considerable danger.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to each of
the Officers of the West Memphis Police Department named below;
