0826RESOLUTION N0. 825
WHEREAS, there is now pending in the Arkansas General
Assembly, House Bill No. 519, which authorizes Cities of
the First Class under 30,000 population to submit to the
vote of the people whether or not a one per cent (1%)
Sales Tax increase should become effective; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Memphis
believes that the passage of such a bill would be in the
best interest of the City of West Memphis; and,
WHEREAS, there is a possibility that the City of
West Memphis would want to vote on this tax in the very
near future;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the City Council declares itself in favor of
House Bill No. 519 authorizing cities of the first class to
levy a one per cent (1%) increase in Sales Tax;
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this
Resolution be sent to each of the members of the. Crittenden
County Legislative Delegation:

Representative Lloyd C. McCuiston
Representative William H. Hundhausen
Representative Jim Stockley

RESOLUTION N0. 826
WHEREAS, there is now pending in the Arkansas General
;~, Assembly, House Bill No. 471, to give additional vacation
~~ to Policemen with additional years of service; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, feels the passage of the bill would cause additional
expense requiring the employment of more Policemen;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CTTY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the City Council of the City of West Memphis
does not support House Bill No. 471.
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of
the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, is hereby notifying
the members of the Crittenden County Legislative Delegation
of their feelings, and send a copy of this Resolution to
each of the members of the Crittenden County Legislative
Delegation:
