A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS, SUPPORTING EFFORTS TO SECURE HUD SECTION 202 FUNDS
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NE6J HOUSING UNITS FOR ELDERLY PERSONS
IN WEST MEMPHIS AND URGING THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING
AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT TO APPROVE FUNDS FOR THIS PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, in keeping with the spirit of providing safe, sanitary, and decent
housing for citizens of West Memphis; and,
WHEREAS, non-profit organizations eligible to undertake activities under
Section 202 of the Housing Act of 1959, as amended, are interested
in providing housing in West Memphis, Arkansas for the elderly; and
WHEREAS, efforts are being made by the non-profit corporations to secure
Section 202 monies for the construction of new housing units for
elderly persons; and
WHEREAS, the Community Housing Resouces Board of West Memphis, Inc. has
passed a Resolution supporting efforts to secure Section 202 funds
for the construction of new housing units for elderly persons in
West Memphis; and
1JHEREAS, a proposal for Section 202 funds will be made on or before June 30,
1982 to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS,
ARKANSAS, that:
1. The City of West Memphis, fully supports the efforts to secure
Section 202 funds to construct new housing units in West memphis
for elderly persons.
2. The City of West Memphis urges the U. S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development to approve the proposal now being pre-
pared and allocate Section 202 funds for West Memphis, Crittenden
County, Arkansas.
