RESOLUTION N0.
WHEREAS, the Arkansas General Assembly now has a
bill pending whereby the authority to appoint the members
of the West Memphis Housing Authority would be placed in
the hands of the Mayor and City Council; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that this is one
of the many facilities in the City of West Memphis
whereby the Mayor and City Council should have some
voice in the appointment of the members of the Housing
Authority; and,
WHEREAS, it is believed that a Resolution passed
by the City Council and forwarded to Representative
Lloyd McCuiston of the General Assembly of Arkansas,
and Mr. William Fleming of the Arkansas Municipal League,
who are co-sponsors of this legislation would be helpful;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of West Memphis desires to approve the pending
legislation to place authority to appoint the members of
the West Memphis Housing Authority in the hands of the
Mayor and City Council; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
be sent to the Honorable Lloyd McCuiston, State Representative,
and Mr. William Fleming, General Counsel, Arkansas Municipal
League.

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West
It~lemphis, Arkansas, desires to assist the City of West
Pdemphis, Arkansas in the problem of flood control;
and,
~'~HEREAS, County Judge, Jack Brawley, and the
C~uorum Court of Crittenden County have the services
of a dragline to clean, widen and deepen ditches;
and,
WHEREAS, it is believed that the County could
start on Ten (10) Mile Bayou at the City Limits and
proceed Westward to the Greasy Corner; and,
WHEREAS, if the County could make some agreement
with the State Highway Department to prevent Highway
No. 49 at Shearerville, Arkansas, acting as a levee
to back up the water from the City of West Memphis;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the
City Council of the City of West Memphis requests
County Judge, Jack Brawley, and the Ruorum Court to
provide the services of a dragline to clean Ten (10)
Mile Bayou from the City Limits to Greasy Corner in
Crittenden County, Arkansas; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that County Judge,
Jack Brawley, and the Ruorum Court request the Highway
Department to make some outlet for the water that backs
up at Shearerville on Highway 49.
