AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY
TO THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, AND MAKING SAME A
PART OF THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, AND ASSIGNING
SAME TO WARD
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the County Clerk of
Crittenden County, Arkansas, by the majority of the real estate
owners of the hereinafter described territory praying that said
territory be annexed to and made a part of the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, on the ~Z4} day of -~•g~srt"' , 199, the
County Court of Crittenden County, Arkansas, found that the
petition was signed by a majority of the real estate owners in
said territory; that said territory was contiguous to and
adjoining the present corporate limits of the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas; that an accurate plat or map of said
territory had been filed with and made a part of said petition;
that proper notice had been given for the time and in the
manner prescribed by law, and that all things pertaining
thereto had been done in the manner prescribed by law, and that
said lands and territory should be annexed to and made a part
of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, subject to the
acceptance of same by the City Council of the City at the
proper time, as provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the time fixed by law for appealing from said
Order of Annexation made by the County Court has expired and no
appeal has been taken from said Order.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1. The following described lands and territory
contiguous to and adjoining the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, t
be and the same is hereby accepted as annexed to and made a
part of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas:
A 30.0 acre tract of land lying in the EZ W~ of Section
22, T-6-N, R-8-E, Crittenden County, Arkansas and being
more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the North - South centerline
of said Section 22 that is 1345.61 feet North of the
intersection of the North - South centerline of Section 22
with the North right-of-way line of the Chicago Rock
Island & Pacific Railroad, said point being on the
Existing City limits line as described in Ordinance No.
1461, thence West along the existing city limits a
distance of 898.0 feet, thence South a distance of 1565.0
feet to a point on the North right-of-way line of the
Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Railroad, thence N76°16'16"E
along said right-of-way a distance of 924.41 feet, thence
North a distance of 1345.61 feet to the point of beginning
containing 30.0 acres more or less.
Section 2. The above described territory shall be
annexed to and made a part of Ward NE of the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas, and the same shall henceforth be a part of
said Ward as fully as existing parts of said Ward.
