AN ORDINANCE TO ABOLISH THE WEST M~;MPHIS PUBLIC UTILITY ~ ~ G7 ~
COMMISSION REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1069, DATED, MAY 21, 198 `~ ~
AND ALL AMENDMENTS THERETO ESTABLISHING A COMMISSION,
AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 1737 AND FOk OTHER PURPOSES.
BE ~T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MEMPHIS, A ANSAS:
CTION 1_ Repeal. Ordinance No. x%1069, dated May 21,
1981, establ'shing a Public Utility Gommissio~ for the City of
West Memphis, Arkansas, consisting of seven ~t7) members, defining
their duties end providing their authority to operate, manage,
end control t e West Memphis Utility Department end Amendments
thereto, Ordinan No. 1081, Ordinance Na. 112?, Ordinance No.
1135, and Ordinan a No. 1199, are hereby repealed, it being the
intent of this ~f]rdinance to abolish he West Memphis Public
Utility Commission. ~~
SECTION 2_ The control, management, and operation of
the West Memphis Utility Department is hereby placed under the
supervision of the Mayor.
SECTION 3_ tithing in this Ordinance shall amend,
modify ar repeal any of the legal obligations or bonded indebted-
ness of the present West Memphis Utility Commission.

suspended without pay or terminated for disciplinary action,
without being offered a predetermination hearing first.
The Utility General Manager has the full authority to repri-
mand, spend and dismiss utility department employees. X11
other apartment heads have the authority to reprimand a~
suspend' employees of their respective departments with pa

Any employee who receives disciplinary action may request an ~'
appeal hearing with the Mayor, provided the request is made
in writing within ten t10) days of receiving the notice of
the disciplinary action.
SECTION 7_ The words "City Council" shall be substi-
tuted in all other remaining ordinances where the words "Utility
Commission" now appear.
