Subject: Airport Commission Highlights
The Airport Commission met June 21st.
• Airport Engineer, Stacey Morris, reported that 3 expansion joints in the
newly reconstructed section of Taxiway "A" are showing signs of considerable
pavement movement during the hot weather. A portion of the taxiway will be closed
for a short period of time to make several sawcuts to relieve the pressure. His firm will
work with the contractor to implement corrective measures at no cost to the airport.
• Airport Manager Lynda Avery commended MSCC for their plans to add a flight
school to their aviation curriculum.
• Our airport has been selected by Loomacres Wildlife Management in NY to host a
regional Wildlife Hazard Assessment Workshop this year.
• The airport commission elected officers: David Pike (Chairman), Steve Jones (Vice-
Chairman), and Marvin Steele (Secretary).
