0638 RESOLUTION NO . G 3
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis , Arkansas , on July
13 , 1978 , suffered one of its worst disasters from water and
wind damages in the history of our city; AND,
WHEREAS, the West Memphis Fire Department answered the
calls for protection to our homes and businesses and helped in
restoring calm to our city; AND,
WHEREAS, many firemen assisted far beyond their regular
duty hours; AND,
WHEREAS , the loyalty, devotion to duty, and public
pride in our city reflects to a high degree the caliber of the
personnel who comprise our Fire Department ;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS :
kti,„ 1 . That the City Council of the City of West Memphis ,
,, Arkansas , commends the outstanding job performed by the West
Memphis Fire Department on July 13 , 1978 , and are indeed grateful
for the services performed .
2 . A copy of this resolution be sent to the Chief of
the Fire Department , Mr . Tom Burkhart , with instructions to see
that all members of that department receive this message .
