0640 RESOLUTION NO .
WHEREAS, the City of West Memphis , Arkansas , on July
13, 1978 , suffered one of its worst disasters from water and
wind damages in the history of our city; AND,
WHEREAS, the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department
responded to the need of the citizens of West Memphis, and helped
protect our property, and gave surveillanCe for many hours while
the city was in darkness ; AND,
WHEREAS, the members of the Crittenden County Sheriff ' s
Department acted as a good neighbor in our distress and showed
a spirit of cooperation between the city and the county; AND,
WHEREAS, the loyalty, devotion to duty, and assistance.
that the Crittenden County Sheriff' s Department gave to our city,
shows to a high degree the caliber of the personnel who comprise
the Crittenden County Sheriff ' s Department;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS :
1. That the City Council of the City of West Memphis ,
Arkansas , commends the outstanding job performed by the Crittenden
County Sheriff's Department on July 13 , 1978 , in the City of West
Memphis, and are indeed grateful for the services performed .
2 . A copy of this resolution be sent to Sheriff, R. L.
Simmons , with instructions to see that all members of that department
receive this message.
