AN ORDINANCE FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1990 EDITION,
PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF
SUCH REGULATIONS.
BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby adopted by the City of West
Memphis, Arkansas, pursuant to Act Ho. 267 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Arkansas, 1949, for the purpose of
establishing rules and regulations governing the use of
electricity for light, heat, porer, radio signaling, and for
other purposes. the National Electric Code, 1990 Edition, of rhich
not less than three (3) copies shall be filed in the office of the
Clerk of the City of Mest Memphis, Arkansas, and same are hereby
adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein
and from the date on rhich this Ordinance shall take effect, the
provision thereof shall be controlling rithin the City Limits of
the City of Mest Memphis, Arkansas.
SECTION 2. It shall be the duty of the Electrical Inspector
to see that this Code is enforced.
SECTION 3. ELECTRICAL WIRING.
(a) All electrical tiring No. 10 AiiIG and smaller installed in the
City of West Memphis, Arkansas, shall be copper or
copper-clad aluminum.
(b) No plain aluminum rite in these sizes shall be used.
SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation rho shall fail to
comply rith any of the provision of this Ordinance shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not
more than five hundred dollars ( $500.00 ) for any one (1) specified
offense or violation of this Ordinance, or double that sum for
each repetition of such offense or violation. If a thing
prohibited or rendered unlarful by this Ordinance is, in its
nature, continuous in respect to time, the fine or penalty for
alloying the continuance thereof, in violation of this Ordinance,
shall not exceed tro hundred fifty dollars (5250.00) for each day
that it may be unlarfully continued.

SECTION 5. Ordinances numbered 1354, 751, 807, 825, and 120
of the City of West Memphis, Arkansas, and all other Ordinances or
parts of Ordinances in conflict hererith are hereby repealed.
