AN ORDINANCE FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE ARKANSAS FIRE
PREVENTION CODE, 1992 EDITION, VOLUMES I AND II, AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, A.C.A. Section 14-55-207 authorizes the
adoption by reference of technical codes, regulations, or
standards if three copies of the code, or pertinent parts
thereof, and any related documents are filed in the office
of the City Clerk for inspection and view by the public
prior to the passage of the ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Arkansas Fire Prevention. Code, 1992
Edition, Volumes I and II, has been reviewed by the Fire
Commission and recommended for adoption by the City of West
Memphis; and
WHEREAS, public notice of the proposed adoption of the
Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, 1992 Edition, Volumes I and
II, has been given in the manner proscribed by law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. There is adopted by the City of ~ti'est
Memphis, Arkansas for the purpose of providing reasonable
protection of life <~nd property from the hazards of fire
and explosion glue to the storage, use or handling of
hazardous materials, substances and devices, and from
conditions hazardous to life or property in the use or the
occupancy of buildings or premises, the Arkansas Fire
Prevention Code, 1992 Edition, Volumes I and II, of which
not less than three copies have been filed in the office of

the City Clerk, and such code is adopted by reference and
incorporated as fully as if set out in this ordinance from
and after the effective date of this ordinance.
SECTION 2. Ordinance 1145 of the City of West Memphis,
Arkansas, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
