ORDINANCE ADOPTING ZONING REGULATIONS AND
OFFICIAL ZONING MAP
FOR CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of West Memphis
has prepared a new zoning Ordinance consisting of narrative text
comprising eleven (11) articles and one (1) map titled "Official
Zoning Map" which is a printed and map document, ringbound, and
properly titled; and
WHEREAS, not fewer than three (3) copies of said Zoning
Ordinance including narrative and map have been on file in the
office of the City Clerk in the West Memphis City Hall and will
continue to be on file at all times for public inspection and
review; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission presented at the public
hearing on July 30, 1986, the Zoning Ordinance and Official Zoning
Map, and on the same date approved the Zoning Ordinance and
Official Zoning Map and recommended that the City Council adopt
said Zoning Ordinance and Official Zoning Map; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Ordinance was reviewed in its entirety
at this meeting and found to be wholly acceptable for the intended
purpose of guiding and controlling land use development and
implementation of the Comprehensive Development Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS:
1. That the Zoning Ordinance, consisting of eleven (11)
articles of narrative text and one (1) map titled "Official
Zoning Map", as identified above, be and hereby is adopted and
approved in all respects as an instrument to guide and influence
the allocation and arrangement of land uses, the development of
land, and the future buildings within the corporate limits of the
City of West Memphis.
2. The City Council does hereby adopt by reference, pursuant
to Arkansas Statutes 19-2421, public notice having been duly
given and three (3) copies of the regulations having been and
presently are duly filed with the City Clerk, for inspection and
review by the public, being a printed document dated July 30, 1986,
consisting of narrative text and one (1) map marked as the "Official
Zoning Map", and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated herein
and as an ordinance as fully as if set forth at length herein, and
from the date on which this ordinance shall take effect, the provisions
therein shall be controlling zoning matters and matters pertinent
thereto within the City of West Memphis, Arkansas.
3. That the City Clerk be and hereby is directed to file
one (1) copy of said Zoning Ordinance with the Journal of Actions

of the City Council and particularly for the present meeting, and
that the City Clerk is directed to maintain not fewer than three
(3) copies of said Zoning Ordinance on file at all times and avail-
able for public review and inspection.
4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
5. This Ordinance being necessary for the immediate peace,
~ health and convenience of the citizens of West Memphis, Arkansas,
~"'' an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and after its passa and approval.
